It was my Wedding Anniversary over the weekend.

So naturally I spent some time analysing Trump Administration Sanctions designations in Q1 based on a hunch I had.

And boy I’m glad I did.

Because, since January 20, 2025, the sheer number of designations aimed at Iran and its proxies absolutely dwarfs every other category.

Of the 185 total designations by the Treasury and State Departments 134 (72%) focus on Tehran and proxies (ie sometimes Hong Kong or Chinese nationals were sanctioned for assisting Iran).
